JASMINE Jobson might appear as a hard nut tomboy in Top Boy, but away from the show, she looks worlds away from her character.
The 26-year-old actress appeared in the 2019 Netflix crime drama as Jaq – a no-nonsense drug dealer – for which she was nominated for a BAFTA.
Top Boy, which will be returning for a fourth season in March, focuses on two London drug dealers who operate on the Summerhouse housing estate in Hackey.
Rapper Drake revived Ronan Bennett’s series in 2017 after it began airing on Channel 4, giving the series and a host of other actors a fresh future.
Rising to that opportunity was Jasmine, who shot to fame after her scintillating performances in the critically-acclaimed series.
A fearsome presence – and one of very few female leads in a predominantly male series – her character turns the younger kids on the fictional London estate on to dealing drugs.
But away from the show, Jasmine sports a completely different appearance and looks completely unrecognisable in glammed up images on social media.
While the show propelled her from being “a nobody to a somebody overnight”, the actress revealed that she’s not fussed about social media stardom.
She told The Guardian: “I’m trying to inspire young people who might be vulnerable or from troubled backgrounds to reach the stars and further.
“If I can make people feel comfortable in their skin and want to do better with their life, why not?
“When it comes to a career, just keep on pushing because you’ll get there eventually. People like me are living proof.”
The fourth season of Top Boy will return to Netflix on Friday, March 18.
