IF you’ve ever wondered whether the movie A Star Is Born is based on a true story, you are not alone.
The 2018 film follows a country music star (played by Bradley Cooper) who is on the brink of decline when he discovers a talented unknown artist (played by Stefani Germanotta).
Is A Star is Born a true story?
A Star is Born is actually the fourth time the story has been told on film in Hollywood.
The movie was made in 1951 with Kathleen Crowley and Conrad Nagel, in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason, in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, and in 2018 with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the 1937 version of the film is reportedly based on the life of Colleen Moore, a silent film star.
When the first film came out, there were rumours going around that said the story was based on the real-life relationship of Barbara Stanwyck and Frank Fay.
However, there is no official confirmation that the theory is true.
There is also no explicit knowledge of a real-life inspiration or true story behind the 2018 version of A Star Is Born.
