FINDING Alice has kicked off on ITV and has already got Britain hooked.
Actress Keeley Hawes heads up the cast, with many viewers wondering if the show is based on a book.
Is Finding Alice based on a book?
There is a book called Finding Alice that was released in 2003 and written by Melody Carlson.
However, the ITV series of the same name IS NOT based on this novel.
The show is in fact written by by Roger Goldby and Simon Nye.
The idea for the show was originated with Roger, who worked with Keeley on The Durrells.
Is Finding Alice a true story?
Although Finding Alice is full of many relatable moments that will make the characters appear real, the series is entirely fictional.
Writer Roger told the BBC: “Death in its instance is very traumatic and horrendous but it’s the legacy of the grief that comes after that we’re all touched by at some point in our lives to varying degrees.
“It can be destabilising, catastrophic, shocking and all-encompassing when the rest of the world is carrying on around you.
“It’s negotiating your way through that journey that interested me rather than the death itself.
“And one of the most important things was to be authentic, real, and truthful and treat it with respect. It’s not a documentary, but we wanted to be very honest.”
What is Finding Alice about?
Finding Alice follows the journey of a woman called Alice after the death of her beloved husband of 20 years, Harry.
The couple are ecstatic after they move into their newly refurbished dream home.
However, Alice’s world is turned upside down when Harry falls down the stairs and tragically dies.
As she tries to cope with what’s happened, Alice struggles with overwhelming feelings of loss, abandonment and disorientation.
Making matters worse, as she continues to settle into her new home, Alice uncovers an unsettling secret Harry had desperately tried to hide.

When is Finding Alice next on TV?
The next episode of Finding Alice will air next Sunday (January 24, 2021).
