LOVE Island 2023 is well underway with lots of drama and romance going on in the villa.
But some fans may wonder if the show airs on a Saturday, or not.
Love Island is back for 2023
Does Love Island air on Saturdays?
ITV2 do not air a regular episode of Love Island on a Saturday.
Instead they show a highlights episode, which also includes some unseen bits from the past week.
According Kem Cetinay, who won back in 2017, the Islanders are given the day off on Saturdays to allow the production team to clean the villa, he told This Morning.
He said: “They give you one day off. You get one day off per week.
“What happens is, it gives them a day to clean the villa, and you take your mics off, and normally we go to the beach.”
“So what happens is, when you take your mic off, you are not allowed to talk about anything to do with the show, you have to talk about home life.
“You are being watched by the producers because they don’t want you to talk about what is going on. They are quite careful about what you talk about, because they want to keep it so everyone at home can see it.”
But 2019 contestant Amy Hart told Closer Online: “Saturday isn’t a day off. We don’t have days off, we have our microphones the whole time.
“Every day I was in there I was mic’d and filmed.”
However, we do know that Love Island isn’t like shows like Big Brother, where it always shows what happened the day before.
Sometimes an episode can show two days of footage or less.
Is Love Island on at weekends?
Sunday is the only weekend day that a new episode of Love Island is shown.
This is then continued Monday through to Friday – with all episodes airing from 9pm on ITV2.
Saturday nights are replaced with a spin-off called Love Island: Unseen Bits.
The show is a jam-packed hour full of exclusives and behind-the-scenes from the villa.
Episodes of the reality dating show can also be watched on ITVX.
When will Love Island finish?
Love Island kicked off on January 16, 2023, and is running fro 8 weeks.
The final episode will air on March 13, 2022 on ITV2 at 9pm.
The couple named the favourite by the viewing public in the final episode stand to win £50,000 each.
Once the show is over, fans won’t have long to wait for the second series of the year, which will kick off in late May/early June 2023.
