MARTIN Lewis hit a birthday milestone today – but instead of putting his feet up, he trudged into Good Morning Britain in the dead of night.
The money-saving expert, who also appears on This Morning, appeared on the show in place of Richard Madeley.
Co-host Susanna Reid told him: “It’s an extraordinary day for you to be here because it is in fact your birthday.”
Martin replied: “Thank you for reminding me straight away.”
Susanna joked: “We’re giving you the gift of being live on television at six o’clock in the morning. Are you forty?”
He told her: “Not quite forty. Add another decade on and we’re there. It’s a big one today. I can’t quite cope with it.

“I’ve got my glasses to prove I’ve got to the age. The grey is going in the hair and in the eyebrows.”
However, if he didn’t want to be reminded that he was turning 50, Martin was out of luck.
The show presented him with a giant chocolate cake with sparklers coming out of the top.
On the side, written in fondant were the words: “Happy 50th Martin.”
Some fans were surprised to learn his age, with one writing: “Can’t believe @MartinSLewis aka National Treasure is 50. Happy Birthday.”
Another told him: “happy birthday martin…50? really? you dont look it…”
The expert was reunited with Susanna, who is a year older than him at 51, after Richard took a day off from the show, which he usually hosts on Mondays.
Richard and Susanna have fronted GMB Mondays to Wednesdays since just before Christmas.
