Struggles with dyslexia and facial cancer operation revealed
James Martin, the 52-year-old TV chef known for shows like Saturday Kitchen and James Martin's Saturday Morning, has shared about the challenges he faces off-camera. Despite his natural presenting style on screen, James admits that he finds reading autocues due to his dyslexia extremely difficult.
Comfort in cooking and chatting
James expressed that being able to cook and chat simultaneously is where he feels most at home. His dyslexia, a learning difficulty that affects language processing, makes reading off autocues a challenging task for him. However, with the support of his autocue operator, Sam, who adjusts the text size for him, James finds a way to work around his condition.
Overcoming health obstacles
Earlier this year, James also opened up about undergoing surgery to remove facial cancer, which he was first diagnosed with in 2018. Providing a positive update on his health during an appearance on Lorraine in April, James shared that he was recovering well from the operation and looking forward to moving forward.
