Janette Manrara slammed by fans for ‘dangerous’ parenting move as newborn snoozes with dad Aljaz

JANETTE Manrara has been slammed by fans for her ‘dangerous’ parenting move with her newborn baby Lyra.

Former Strictly pro Janette, 39, and her husband Aljaž Škorjanec, 33, thrilled fans when they announced that they’d welcomed a baby girl at the end of July.

However, some were left concerned with her latest Instagram post, which saw Aljaz lying on the floor beneath a blanket, next to his newborn daughter.

Little Lyra looked very cosy in her Moses basket as she slept beside her dad, but a huge cushion next to her head drew attention.

One commented, “As beautiful as this picture is and a huge congratulations but please please be careful of that cushion and the blanket being so close to her face!”

Another added, “The cushion away from her face and tuck the blanket in at waist height. Same for any cuddly toys you might want to add to her cot. Better to be safe than sorry.”

Somebody else agreed, “Please be careful with that cushion near her face. If you are sleeping and accidentally push it over her face.”

A fourth wrote, “Please be careful that blanket is so dangerous , try swaddling her it’s after enjoy your beautiful bubba x.”

The couple announced they were expecting their first baby back in March.

Aljaz and Janette got engaged in 2015 and then married on July, 15, 2017.

The pair had an astonishing three weddings in various locations, including Slovenia and Disneyland, when they married in the summer of 2017. 

They’d been together for six years before that.

Janette quit her job as a professional dancer on Strictly two years ago so she and Aljaz could try for a baby.

Since then she’s been made host of Strictly’s spin-off show It Takes Two.

The couple told how they were first planning on starting IVF just before Janette fell pregnant naturally.
