JEOPARDY! alum Buzzy Cohen has hinted that Mayim Bialik will not be the host of the show’s Celebrity edition.
The 46-year-old has been the frontrunner to host the new version of the game show for months, but it seems someone else might be beating her out for the gig.
Buzzy, who now stars as a Chaser on ABC’s The Chase, is a previous Jeopardy! champ and guest host.
On Thursday, he jumped into a Twitter conversation to give a little tease about the upcoming Celebrity Jeopardy series, and the possibility that Mayim won’t be hosting it.
A fan account dedicated to the game show had tweeted: “100% prepared to be wrong but still not totally believing that the Mayim-hosts-primetime-Jeopardy thing is still here.
“If that was still a thing I feel like the many press releases talking about Celebrity Jeopardy would have mentioned her by now.”

Fueling the speculation, Buzzy replied with a gif of Yoda saying, “No, there is another.”
Fans immediately started to get excited about what his tweet could be hinting at.
“WAIT WHAT,” one asked, along with an emoji of eyes searching for answers.
A second sent back a gif of Yoda saying, “So certain are you.”
A third excited follower wondered: “BUZZY IS THIS AN ANNOUNCEMENT?”
Jeopardy! fans started to wonder if even after the current season of The Chase is over, if Buzzy will continue his partnership with ABC and be the one to host the Celebrity edition.
He’s a former champ and appeared in nine games in April and May 2016.
Buzzy was known as “Mr. Personality” by the late, great Alex Trebek.
At the end of his run, he took home $164,603.
Buzzy came back to Jeopardy! for the 2017 Tournament of Champions, where he won the grand prize of $250,000.
He then went on to appear in the Jeopardy! All-Star Games relay tournament in 2019.
In 2021, Buzzy hosted the Tournament of Champions, leading fans to beg for Jeopardy! to make him a permanent host.
Instead, that gig is currently being fought for by Mayim and Ken Jennings.
Now, though, fans are wondering if Celebrity Jeopardy! might be his next opportunity to host.
Still, last month, an ABC executive dropped a hint that Mayim would take on the role.
The network announced Celeb Jeopardy! during the reveal of its Fall 2022-2023 schedule, but in the reveal, according to Variety, ABC added: “A host will be announced at a later date.”
The President of ABC Entertainment and Hulu Originals, Craig Erwich, teased that he “wouldn’t read anything into” this note about the emcee not yet being shared.
Despite her name being left out of the announcement, Mayim will likely be tapped for the gig, as she was previously revealed to be working on Jeopardy! spinoffs.
The ABC exec told the outlet: “It’s really just about the details of the announcement.

“And we just are not ready yet, but we will be soon.”
When asked if this means fans should not assume Mayim won’t host just because her name was missing, he simply replied: “Correct.”
