After 17 series, there has been some speculation over when Lord Sugar, 76, will quit the BBC show, and who would replace him if and when he does.

But Karren has insisted it won’t be her, and she would in fact leave the show with Lord Sugar when the time comes.

She said: “When Alan steps down, I step down. I wouldn’t do it, there’s only one person who can sit in that chair and that’s him. The Apprentice is Alan.”

She added to MailOnline: “He’s one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world, look at what he’s achieved.

“He left school with no qualifications and built a business into a global force and all the different elements and different businesses he’s worked in, he’s unique.

“He had a genuine desire to help people start their own businesses. Everything about him resonates with the viewer and I really don’t think the show exists without him.”

Meanwhile, last month, Karren confirmed that Claude will be returning to the BBC show next series.

Lord Alan Sugar’s assistant, 74, only appeared on one episode and was forced to take a step back due to “medical issues” on the latest series.

He then recruited series one winner Tim Campbell, who stepped into Claude‘s shoes for the later outings.

Speaking exclusively to The Celeb Report, Karren said: “I will absolutely be returning to the next series.

“Claude will definitely be returning for the interviews. But I don’t know about the rest of the process.

“I like Tim [Campbell] – I’ve been lucky, I’ve like all of my colleagues, Nick, Claude and Tim.

“We all get on very well, Tim’s a great person, he has great energy, a great vibe, he’s a real pleasure to work with.”

The Apprentice is available on BBC iPlayer.
