Kate Garraway addresses 'backlash' over Derek Draper documentary

Kate Garraway opens up

Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway has addressed the "backlash" over her documentary on her late husband Derek Draper – and why she’s now speaking out. The ITV presenter, 57, opened up on being subject to the sickening trolling centred on show Derek’s Story, which documented his battle with Covid as well as shining a light on the essential work of carers.

Recognition for the documentary

Kate, who fought back tears live on GMB last week, opened up on the heart-wrenching documentary being nominated for a National Television Award later this year. The broadcaster, whose spouse Derek died aged 56 in January, let slip her nod for the accolade in a chat with Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis, 52, who is nominated in another category.

Standing up for unpaid carers

Kate has continued her dedication to shining a spotlight on unpaid carers despite facing financial difficulties due to Derek's care debts. She shared how she was considering withdrawing cash from her pension early to cover the mounting medical bills.
