Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard ‘disappointed’ as GMB loses out on award – after crashing off air

KATE Garraway and Ben Shephard told viewers today that Good Morning Britain had lost out on an award last night – a day after crashing off air.

The presenters spoke of their defeat shortly after the show kicked off and shook their heads in disappointment.

Kate Garraway enjoyed her first night out at the awards bash with her GMB co-stars

Kate, 54, told viewers she’d even attended the ceremony with her co-stars and it was her first night out in ages.

She admitted: “I had a very, very late night. We were at an award ceremony last night, Good Morning Britain was nominated but we didn’t win. I know I know.”

Kate and Rochelle Humes were among the stars who had been nominated at the Broadcast Awards on Thursday evening.

The Good Morning Britain host, 54, looked incredible in a metallic fuschia wrap dress as she made her way into the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London.

Kate, who was also nominated for her ITV documentary Finding Derek, teamed the look with equally vibrant shoes and earrings.

She attended the event after Good Morning Britain was forced off air yesterday.

The ITV programme was thrown into chaos with Kate and Ben forced to scrap an interview with Status Quo star Francis Rossi – and they cut to Lorraine five minutes early.

Ben and Kate were left red-faced as the live link to Rossi failed to work.

The rocker spoke for just a minute before his face froze on the screen and Kate realised they were in trouble.

Ben added: “Hopefully Lorraine is unfrozen, and ready to go…”

Good Morning Britain has suffered technical glitches all week.

Yesterday, politics editor Ranvir Singh was seen waving over at Kate who didn’t know where to look after the cameras cut to the wrong presenter.

During a chat about Kate’s upcoming Life Stories interview with Bake Off star Nadiya Hussain, Nadiya’s name also appeared on screen with the wrong spelling.

And, Ranvir was cut-off midsentence multiple times as she reported on location and the show returned to the studio.

It comes after The Celeb Report revealed Piers Morgan had nicked a string of GMB’s best production staff.

The ex-Good Morning Britain host, 56, has hired six key production staff from the channel including Erron Gordon – his former director on GMB – to operate his upcoming new primetime show on TalkTV.
