Kate's devastating news
Kate Garraway has shared the emotional phone call she had with hospital staff who informed her that her husband, Derek Draper, had passed away.
A tragic turn of events
While on her way to Mexico to bring Derek back home from a brain cell clinic, Kate received the heartbreaking news that he had died of cardiac arrest during her flight.
A rollercoaster of emotions
Despite initially showing significant improvement, Derek's condition took a turn for the worse. Kate was informed of his passing upon landing, only for hospital staff to revive him while she was still on the phone.
The heartbreaking journey
Derek underwent extensive neurosurgery in Mexico before being transported to a London hospital with Kate by his side. Tragically, he never regained consciousness and passed away on January 3rd.
Looking back on happier times
Before the sudden decline in Derek's health, Kate and her family were hopeful for his recovery, with plans to reunite with friends upon his return.
Sharing their story
Kate Garraway will be opening up about Derek's four-year battle with Covid in the upcoming documentary "Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story," airing on ITV at 9pm on Tuesday.
