KATE Garraway’s mum was rushed to hospital on their family holiday after breaking her foot.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, whose husband Derek Draper battled Covid last year, opened up about her fresh heath scare on Instagram today.
She praised the NHS in a post to fans, saying her mum recieved treatment after a tumble on her way to the beach.
Kate, 54, shared: “Just when you thought (hoped!) I hadn’t had a new reason to thank the #nhs recently cue an unfortunate tumble from my mum on the way to the beach & and a broken foot and twisted ankle.
“Thanks to the typically wonderful #nhs team at #bodmin hospital and particularly wonderful Ruth we managed to get her booted and safely home for further treatment.
“You were all so kind – thank you so much. And thanks to @peugeotuk (again) for lending us a car with enough room for her to keep her leg stretched out for the whole journey (although it did mean my Dad was relegated for the first time ever to the back seat , where he really enjoyed defining the expression “back seat driver”!!! )”
Kate’s friends quickly reached out to her, with one writing: “If anyone needs a break and some good luck it’s you Kate ! Your positive attitude throughout is amazing.
”
Another person wrote: “Gosh you’ve been through so much! Sending love and get well wishes to your lovely mum and positive continued healing vibes to derek xx”
Katie’s husband Derek is the longest-suffering Covid patient in the country and currently requires round-the-clock care.
The TV star travelled to Cornwall on holiday with her parents and their kids but was forced to leave Derek at home.
Kate shared a video of her family along with her cousins, nieces, nephews and her mum and dad playing football earlier this week, before her mum’s accident.
She captioned the clip: “#paradise Thanks to the wonderful mum dad & sisters draper for coming down to be with Derek (with nurses too ofcourse) so I could take my mum dad , Darcey & Billyto Cornwall .”
Kate and Derek share kids Darcey, 15, and Billy, 11, together.
Derek was allowed to return home for the first time back in April after being debilitated by Covid.
Kate recently opened up about her husband’s condition to Andrew Marr and said he is a “long way” from the person she knew.
She told him on May 23: “He is devastated by Covid. He can’t really move, his communication is minimal.
“There are moment when they’re up, so in those moment you feel you know he’s in there. He was a lot of memory but accessing it is limited.”
Kate heartbreakingly concluded: “He is a long way from the Derek Draper you knew, but he is home and alive.”
