Katherine Ryan says her daughter gets treated differently at school because the ‘teacher doesn’t like her famous mum’

COMEDIAN Katherine Ryan has opened up on her daughter Violet getting ‘different’ treatment at school because the teacher ‘isn’t a fan’ of her famous mum.

Katherine, 39, is the mum of three children – a daughter named Violet, 13, from a previous relationship, as well as son Fred, who will turn two in June, and newborn daughter Fenna, who she shares with husband Bobby Kootstra.

Katherine rose to fame due to her much-adored comedy skills

Opening up on whether her eldest knows that she’s famous, Katherine admitted her comedy success has impacted her daughter both positively, and negatively.

Katherine told The Celeb Report: “Violet has known who I am since maybe five years old. She totally gets it and gets that not everyone is on TV, but for a time she thought everyone was on TV because everyone we knew was on TV.

“Now she sees the advantages as well as the disadvantages.”

Katherine’s daughter told her mum she didn’t think her teacher liked her, due to her mum’s fame.

Katherine continued: “She has said to me ‘I think my teacher is harder on me because he doesn’t like you.’ I was like, ‘well that’s entirely possible.’

“There are going to be disadvantages with me being on TV but there are also going to be advantages.

“She knows the advantages – sometimes you get to fly to amazing places and go to cool things but the disadvantage is that you’re kind of under a microscope because other people’s parents or your teachers might know who I am. She likes it overall I think.”

Katherine describes herself as a ‘homebody’ and is enjoying mum life at home with her three children and husband Bobby, 49.

That said, she recently wowed fans as she returned to the stage 11 weeks after giving birth.

Taking to the stage at Indigo at the O2 as part of the Just For Laughs London festival, the star hosted her own Katherine Ryan and Friends show.

Katherine stepped on stage in a lilac two piece ensemble consisting of wide legged trousers and a loose shirt.

And she’s got an exciting year coming up, including a new Channel 4 show later on this year.

But first, she intends to kick back and watch the Oscars, with her new partnership with Gousto’s Flavour That Pops campaign.

Gousto have introduced a new menu of popcorn flavours, inspired by its best-selling recipes, with very unique offerings including Sunday Roast and Hawaiian Pizza.

Katherine said: “It’s funny because as someone who’s such a television fan and reality TV fan I’m not much of a film buff at all. I don’t really like the Oscars films because they’re quite dramatic but I do love other aspects. I really love the comedy monologues and I love the glamour and the dresses.

“So I loved when Gousto wanted to collaborate on some of the big flavours. I think the British public will really love the flavours and my favourite is the pizza because I love pineapple and cheese and pizza flavours but I don’t really like the bread.
