KOURTNEY Kardashian has received pushback from fans for her bizarre request on social media.
The Hulu star took to her Instagram Stories to reshare a message about “staying offline,” sparking a slew of comments from trolls.
Kourtney Kardashian was slammed by fans for making a bizarre request on social media
Kourtney reshared a video of Courtney Love urging fans to “stay off of TikTok,” which fans thought was “ironic” given Kourtney’s frequent posts online
The post – which showed singer Courtney Love, 58, encouraging viewers to avoid social media – seemed to resonate with Kourtney, who decided to pass along the advice.
In the initial TikTok, Courtney told the camera: “Stay the f**k offline. I’m not even joking. No one’s going to hire anybody that can’t focus. None of my employees have social media. Yeah, stay offline. Really stay off TikTok!”
However, critics didn’t think Kourtney was the appropriate person to encourage people to get rid of their platforms, given her overwhelming presence on social media.
The 43-year-old – who has 211million followers on Instagram alone – often takes to her platforms to post photos and videos about her personal life and business ventures.
Besides being Blink-182 drummer, Travis Barker‘s wife, and a mom to three children, Kourtney is also the founder of her wellness brand, Poosh, and her vitamin supplements company, Lemme.
Fans voiced their opinions about Kourtney’s request in an online thread after one person wrote: “Not Kourtney telling people to stay off social media, the thing that bankrolls her entire life.”
Another thought that the TV personality resharing the post was “ironic,” noting the money her family rakes in through their platforms: “Social Media is the families bread and butter, even Kourtney. So I don’t think she would get off either.”
A third said: “It’s true for Kourtney in the sense she does not allow her [nannies] to have phones/social media while working. But it’s still ironic because she is absolutely addicted to social media, is on it all day just like her sisters.”
And a fourth remarked: “Can always count on Kourtney for the well-meaning but tone-deaf virtue signaling hypocrisy. It’s her whole brand at this point lol.”
Meanwhile, others joked about Kourtney and her sister Kim’s daughters’ frequent posts on TikTok, despite the video’s plea to stay off the app.
The eldest Kardashian siblings have joint TikTok accounts with their daughters – nine-year-old North, whom Kim, 42, shares with her ex-husband, Kanye West, 45; and 10-year-old Penelope, Kourtney, and her ex Scott Disick’s middle child.
‘INAPPROPRIATE’ LYRIC
While the girls often star in videos solo or with their friends, their mothers join them from time to time.
Most recently, Kourtney shared the screen with Penelope as the duo lip sang to SZA’s hit song Kill Bill during a glam session.
However, fans weren’t pleased with the song choice and slammed Kourtney for joining her daughter in singing an “inappropriate” lyric.
The lyric in question goes: “I might kill my ex, not the best idea,” which fans immediately tied to Kourtney’s baby daddy, Scott.
“NOT LORD DISICK,” one viewer commented with multiple sad face emojis.
Another wrote: “Scott rn: [insert shocked face emoji].”
“She knew what she was doing with the lyrics,” a third commenter said.
In another popular thread, someone said: “Feels slightly inappropriate to be in this video with P when it’s about her dad!”
“When the ex in question is your Dad [insert upside-down smiley face],” another said.
MOTHER-DAUGHTER TIME
Just days before, Kourtney again appeared in a TikTok with her daughter as the pair recorded themselves baking chocolate chip cookies.
They showed the ingredients they used, which were all gluten-free and vegan, to go along with Kourtney’s dietary restrictions.
They then shared a quick clip of every step of the process, including the measuring process for each ingredient.
There were also a ton of clips featuring their black KitchenAid mixer, to which they added the chocolate chips last.
Penelope’s hands in the video could be seen helping her mother measure the ingredients and use the mixer.
TIKTOK BAN
Kourtney’s frequent involvement in Penelope’s videos might be due to the tween getting banned from the platform in November 2021.
Penelope previously had her own page before the app shut down her account for violating their guardian guidelines.
Only those 13 years and older can use the app based on the platform’s rules.
As a compromise, Kourtney and Penelope merged their accounts so The Kardashians star could monitor her daughter’s posts.
