Inspired by his son's performance at Glastonbury
Krishnan Guru-Murthy, the 53-year-old news presenter who recently left Strictly Come Dancing, has announced his plans to form a band. Inspired by his son Jay, who performed at Glastonbury with his group Askew, Guru-Murthy expressed his desire to get a band back together. He revealed that he introduced Jay to guitars and is now considering joining him in the world of music.
A blast from the past
In 2021, Guru-Murthy shared a heartwarming story about his first electric guitar. An old pal returned the instrument to him after borrowing it more than 30 years ago, sparking memories of his early musical endeavors. It seems that Guru-Murthy's passion for music has been a lifelong journey.
A band born from friendship
Guru-Murthy's connection to music runs deep. He met his wife, Lisa Guru-Murthy, through their mutual friend Tim Hincks, who was also an old bandmate. The couple now shares a love for music and even plays in a band together. However, Guru-Murthy humorously admitted that they avoid discussing rock 'n' roll in front of their wives, as they don't take their musical aspirations seriously.
Reflections on his Strictly experience
Having been eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing two weeks ago, Guru-Murthy opened up about the impact the show had on him. He tearfully spoke about how it had "changed" him as a person and expressed his gratitude for the time he had on the show. Although he missed out on performing at the iconic Blackpool Ballroom, Guru-Murthy cherished the experience he had on Strictly.
