LEGENDARY BBC quiz show Only Connect has made a surprise return to our screens.
Host Victoria Mitchell, 50, has confirmed the news on social media.
Only Connect is making a return very soon
The show is hosted by Victoria Mitchell
Only Connect hit our screens in 2008 and has gone on to have 18 successful series.
Fans of the programme only have weeks to wait until the next one is back.
Victoria, who has been presenter since 2008, took to Twitter and said: “*drumroll* Only Connect will be coming back to BBC Two on Monday July 17th! Earlier than usual this year.
“It’s a very jolly new series; hope you enjoy it.”
Fans rushed to reply to the tweet to share their excitement.
One said: “Huzzah!”
Another added: “Best news I’ve heard since last Autumn’s series graced our screens.”
“Yay my withdrawal symptoms will be cured,” a third tweeted back.
The last series started in August 2022, meanwhile the others prior began in September and October time.
A fourth added: “Watching Only Connect while the sun’s still out is going to be very weird.”
A fifth joked: “Can’t believe autumn is starting in July, we have truly been blessed.”
One Connect sees teams compete in a tournament of finding connections between seemingly unrelated clues.
The show’s questions will cover any topic, and many may require knowledge of both arcane subject areas and popular culture.
When presented with the clues, contestants are not told the type of the connection, and as such part of the gameplay involves establishing whether the connection is thematic, linguistic, factual or mathematical.
The last episode of the show, in December, left fans saying the same thing.
Viewers were introduced to the Croot and Crustacean families as they both battled it out.
But one contestant didn’t appear to have a second name – and was just called ‘Dennis’.
Fans took to social media after spotting it as one said: “WHY IS HE JUST DENNIS??? #OnlyConnect.”
Another said: “Really enjoyed tonight’s #onlyconnect – my main question is why Dennis has no surname.”
“Is Dennis’s second name all vowels; so he’s staying in character of the missing vowels round and making it invisible,” asked a third.
