He spends a week with the establishments and attempts to help the owners revive their businesses.

Gordon, 56, is known for his harsh critiques and blunt advice.

Kitchen Nightmares first debuted in 2004 and ran for seven seasons.

The show ended back in June 2014 after Gordon decided it was “time to call it a day”.

Taking to social media at the time, Gordon wrote: “I’ve had a phenomenal 10 years making 123 episodes, 12 seasons, shot across 2 continents, watched by tens of millions of people and sold to over 150 countries.

“It’s been a blast, but it’s time to call it a day.

“During this time, I’ve visited over 100 restaurants, meeting and trying to help — or in some cases, failing to help — some of the most weird and wonderful people.”

The new season of Kitchen Nightmares will be produced by the television production company Studio Ramsay.

The dad-of-five will also be working on his other shows Next Level Chef, Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, and MasterChef Jr.

This comes after Gordon appeared on a podcast and said he gets “incredibly upset” when people think he is on drugs due to his notoriously hot-headed, boisterous personality.

He opened up about his brother’s addiction to heroin and how he is aware that he could have gone down the same route after growing up in several council estates.

Discussing his views on cocaine on the Big Fish with Spencer Matthews podcast, Gordon said: “I get incredibly upset when everybody thinks I’m on it because you’re boisterous, you’re loud and you’re excited.

“That’s just passion. Pure f****** passion and that’s no different to being in a dressing room or changing room at half-time, 2-0 down and you’ve got to get your s*** together in the next 45 minutes.

“Growing up in that environment you’re never worried about losing, it was the fight back.

“So, at three (Michelin) star level there is a price to pay for that and it’s not flipping burgers and dressing f****** Caesar salads. It’s just the ultimate, so it’s as refined as an athlete.

“So, I got upset when everyone thought that rock’n’roll status in the industry was dependent on this f****** white powder and it was absolute nonsense.”
