Creator J.K Rowling will have an influence on the series to ensure it follows the original stories

Each season of the series would be based on one of Rowling’s seven books in the Harry Potter series.

According to Bloomberg, the source indicates that they are still in the the early development stage and Rowling has not yet signed off.

It is believed Rowling would have some involvement in the series “to ensure it remains loyal to her original material,” but she would not be its primary creator or showrunner.

Warner Brothers Discovery is reportedly looking for the series to form part of the company’s new streaming strategy, as the company prepares to host a presentation for investors and the general public next week.

Its new streaming platform will collapse HBO Max and Discovery+ into one.

Warner Brothers and HBO Max issued a statement to deny that the series was in development, however several sources suggested otherwise.

The first novel in the book series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was released in 1997.

The final novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, debuted in 2007.

Warner Brothers was responsible for bringing Rowling’s books to life on the big screen between 2001 and 2011.

The eight films generated £6.4 billion at the global box office.

It’s been 12 years since the Harry Potter movies concluded with the eighth outing Deathly Hallows Part 2.

Warner Brothers has also produced multiple spin-off films 2016’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and last year’s Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

There is also the Broadway production Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and the video game Hogwarts Legacy.

Director Chris Columbus has recently stated interest in continuing the Harry Potter franchise by making a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie.

He wants Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson to return for the big screen adaptation.

The story begins with the 19 Years Later epilogue at the end of Deathly Hallows and follows the adventures of Harry and Draco Malfoy’s sons Albus and Scorpius who become firm friends.

Despite fans eagerly awaiting for confirmation, J. K. Rowling and Warner Brothers have both denied that a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie would ever happen.

The Harry Potter streaming series currently does not have a prospective release date.
