LITVINENKO viewers all had the same complaint about David Tennant in his latest role.
Just minutes into ITV’s true crime drama, the audience took to social media as they were divided over his accent.

He played the role of Russian secret service officer Alexander Litvinenko in the four-part series
David, 52, played the role of Russian secret service officer Alexander Litvinenko.
The four-part series follows the true story of the former Russian Federal Security Services and KGB officer who was poisoned and died.
When the series first made its debut on ITVX, some were critical of David’s somewhat ‘ropey’ accent.
One viewer wrote: “I’m not going to watch it as I did try to watch it on ITVX, but I couldn’t get past David Tennant still sounding Scottish!”
A second said: “Watching Litvinenko on ITV … David Tennant saying “murder” in a Russian accent just isn’t right.”
However other fans of the former Doctor Who actor took to social media nonetheless to lavish praise on the actor for his performance, regardless of his accent.
One viewer wrote: “Watching #Litvinenko on ITV . I know David Tennant got slaughtered for his accent but lets forget about that and focus on the story which I remember very well.”
Another fan sympathised: “I’m sure David Tennant felt just as cringe doing that accent as I do watching it. Props but knowing he’s not Russian is making it bad.”
A third commented: “David Tennant in #Litvinenko is a masterclass in acting. Just wow.”
Whilst a fourth noted: “Watching David Tennant again in #Litvinenko and it’s still hard to recognise that it’s him.”
A fifth exclaimed: “David Tennant is unquestionably one of the greatest actors to come out of Scotland and/or the UK.
“But, more than that, David Tennant is one of the greatest actors in the
.”
“Litvinenko wow. Such powerful performances and story telling,” exclaimed a sixth watcher.
They added: “Tennant must win all the awards for that devastating performance. All the cast are brilliant.”
Whilst another fan wrote: “After all these years, I shouldn’t be surprised at yet another incredible performance (& transformation) from David Tennant, but he’s done it again.”
