LOOSE Women anchor Kaye Adams to have tax case reheard in £124,000 dispute

Background

LOOSE Women anchor Kaye Adams is currently embroiled in a tax dispute with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). The case, which spans four years, revolves around whether Adams should be classified as a "disguised employee" and therefore subject to income tax and National Insurance contributions. HMRC claims that Adams owes £81,150.60 in income tax and £43,290.98 in National Insurance contributions. Adams, on the other hand, argues that she was self-employed and not subject to these rules.

The Rehearing

An Upper Tribunal judge ruled in Adams' favor in 2021, but HMRC has appealed the decision. As a result, Adams' tax case is now being reheard. The Central London court was scheduled to hear evidence from Jeff Zycinski, Head of Radio at BBC Scotland, yesterday.

Adams' View on Strictly Come Dancing

Aside from the tax case, Adams recently shared her thoughts on the popular TV show Strictly Come Dancing. She commended the show for making a positive change this year by including more older contestants. Adams believes that representation and inclusivity are crucial issues and that age is often overlooked in these discussions. She expressed her delight that the show is now including contestants of all ages and hopes that this change will become permanent.
