Phil was hosting This Morninbg with Holly Willoughby and linked up with Loose Women to tell viewers what was coming up on the show

The pair suffered an awkward exchange when the star and his co-host Holly Willoughby linked up with Loose Women to tease what was coming up on ITV.

Moments before they shared the screen, 41-year-old Holly told viewers: “Right still to come… he’s got the paw-fect Jubilee accessories.

“Gyles [Brandreth] is back to show you how our dog can take part in the celebrations too.”

Phillip added: “On the subject of well-dressed mutts, in just a moment we are joined by Sweep and Sooty as well to hear about their exciting new project.”

'SAY SORRY'

Holly then cut to Loose Women, saying: “First though, it’s time to find out what the Loose Women are talking about this lunch time.

“There they are, hi Ruth!”

Ruth was already laughing along with her fellow panelists Kéllé Bryan, Judi Love and Denise Welch.

Explaining why she had the giggles, she told Phil and Holly: “I’m so sorry, when Phillip said, ‘talking of well dressed mutts’, we all went, ‘sorry, sorry!'”

Phillip clapped as Ruth eventually said: “Right, coming up with us well dressed mutts…”

The exchange comes after Ruth’s husband Eamonn Holmes, 62, branded Phil “passive-aggressive” and claimed he is “renowned for snubbing people.”

The cracks between the main team on This Morning and former Friday presenters Eamonn and Ruth began in 2019.

Ruth was seen to slam her pen down in fury after Scofe cut her off mid-sentence, and she later made a complaint to head of daytime TV Emma Gormley.

In his latest interview, Eamonn addressed the row, saying: “It’s up to Ruth to say how she felt, but I was feeling hurt for her.

“No one would have snubbed me like that. I have a good Belfast street fighter in me… I would be direct. I don’t go for presenters who think they have a special privilege or aura or influence.”
