Loose Women’s Saira Khan quits show so that she can ‘focus on what’s important’ after Andrea McLean exit

LOOSE Women’s Saira Khan has quit the ITV daytime show so that she can “focus on what’s important”.

The decision comes shortly after Andrea McLean broke down in tears as she announced her own departure from the programme in November.

Saira has quit Loose Women

The 50-year-old star joined the panel in 2015, after shooting to fame on The Apprentice.

Writing in her column for The Mirror, Saira explained that she wanted to “assess her priorities” in the new year.

The mum-of-two admitted that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic was a factor in her decision, as she’s realised what is “really important”.

Saira said: “It’d certainly made me assess my priorities, values and how I want to move forward with my life.”

“So I start this new year by saying goodbye to Loose Women.

“After five years of being a regular panellist, I’ve decided to give up my seat to another woman who will benefit from the platform as I did.”

Saira went on to admit that while it was a “difficult decision” she felt that she had “nothing left to share” on the programme.

The star added: “Others too have found that Covid has given them the kick they needed to quit jobs that don’t bring them satisfaction, and to try something new.”

Andrea, 51, was left unable to speak on her final Loose Women show last month – which aired shortly before Christmas.

She’d previously sobbed as she announced the news to viewers live on air one month earlier.

Andrea reflected on having a nervous breakdown last year as she explained her decision, praising ITV for their support as she insisted that it was entirely her own choice to leave.

The star shared at the time: “So many people are talking about how they can’t wait for life to get back to normal and I sat and did that, I thought: ‘Do I want my life to go back to the normal it was before?’

“Last year I had a nervous breakdown and what I felt was this year, collectively, the world had a breakdown and the experience I had means that this year I was mentally really strong to deal with everything that the pandemic threw at us.”

Andrea continued: “But it made me stop and think: ‘What do I actually want?’ If there is anything that can show us you only get one life…

“Are you living it the way you want? Doing everything you want to do? Being brave and taking chances? And I realised no.”

The star then became visibly choked up as she burst into tears, saying: “I didn’t think I was going to cry, but I’ll be leaving soon.”
