Fans were up in arms over the half-and-half shirt

The reporter in question popped up on screen in a half-Wales and half-England football shirt, evidently showing he was impartial and showing support for both sides.

But ITV viewers weren’t impressed, with one person writing: “I would like to report a crime,” one person wrote.

Another added: “WTF. Pick a side mate. I know journalists have to appear to be impartial but this is a joke.”

Harry Kane and Gareth Bale will face off tonight in the World Cup’s first all-British clash tonight, with 16 million set to roar them on at home.

Thousands have taken Tuesday and Wednesday off work for the historic game in Doha, which will see England top the group with a victory.

Wales progress if they win by four goals but any margin will do if USA and Iran draw.

England boss Gareth Southgate says skipper Harry Kane and his men are fired up to slay the Dragons in tonight’s Battle of Britain.

But hopes are that there won’t be too many half and half clothing items on show in the crowds.

Half-and-half scarves are already a pet hate of football fans – and shirts seem to be a step even further.

Back in 2019, half-and-half scarves finally united north London – as both Arsenal and Tottenham fans agreed that they should be banned.

One Twitter user wrote how these kinds of scarves “should be banned”, while another added that anyone wearing one “can firmly get in the bin”.

One more said: “We need to start a petition to ban half and half scarves.”
