IT’S the news we’ve all been dying to hear.
As if the prospects for this summer couldn’t get better, Love Island is set to return to our screens after a long hiatus.
When will Love Island 2021 start?
Love Island’s summer edition usually runs from the beginning of June for eight weeks until August.
If the pandemic has not altered the course of events too much, we can expect to see the 2021 edition run on a similar timeframe.
Laura Whitmore spoke about the return of the show to The Telegraph’s Stella magazine in February.
She said: “I have been told that it’s coming back. I love doing it, it’s such a fun show,”
“And I actually think it’s been good to have had that break, for everyone who works on it, because we all went through a loss. It’s nice to realise how much people missed the show. Apparently applications are crazy this year.”
The closing date for submitting the form is 30th April 2021, so we can expect the new contestants to be revealed after that deadline.
Where will Love Island be held?
The latest odds from Ladbrokes put it at 2/1 that the show will be filmed at the classic Majorcan villa we know and love.
The modern villa is located in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar and has housed some wild antics in previous series.
In the case of another lockdown situation, ITV are reported to have secured Jersey as a second choice according to The Mirror.
An insider said: “The Channel Islands get plenty of sunshine so it makes sense to hold Love Island there if we can’t get back to Spain,”
“Either way we’re going to put out a belting series. Viewers have missed Love Island for the whole of 2020 and they’re desperate to have it back. They’re going to love what we do, wherever we do it.”
What have ITV said about the series?
ITV confirmed the news that Love Island would be returning this summer.
The channel announced: “Love Island returns for its seventh sizzling series, as a host of new singletons seek to find their perfect match.
“Returning to ITV2, the Islanders must do their best to flirt, date, couple up and try and avoid being ‘dumped’.
“With new arrivals, heads may turn, while others will prove their true feelings.
“From romance and heart-to-hearts to betrayal and broken hearts, there’s never a dull moment in this ultimate search for love.
“More texts, fire pit gatherings and challenges await the lovestruck Islanders, meaning there’ll be plenty for them to dish the dirt on in the Beach Hut.
“And there’ll be lots of twists and turns along the way, with shock recouplings, unexpected splits and dramatic exits.
“As the pairs attempt to win the hearts of each other – and the nation – one couple will ultimately triumph and be crowned Love Island winners 2021.”
Who will be on Love Island 2021?
No names have been announced as of yet, and applications for the 2021 series are still open.
