Love Island 2021 ‘will be biggest in history as show bosses spare no expense on its comeback’

LOVE Island bosses are determined to make its 2021 comeback the biggest in the show’s history and no expense will be spared, according to reports.

The hit ITV2 reality series was postponed last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the success of I’m A Celebrity and Strictly in the face of restrictions has inspired show chiefs.

Love Island is targeting a summer return

Speaking to the Star, an insider said: “Strictly and Dancing on Ice have happened against the odds and they’re determined that Love Island can do the same.

“They also think they’ll need to fly over three times as many contestants than normal in case some of them fall ill.

“Discussions around the budget are happening. It’s definitely going to be the biggest in show history.”

The Celeb Report exclusively revealed overnight that 100,000 people have applied for this summer’s show.

Desperate singletons have inundated bosses with 100,000 applications

It is set to return to a Covid-secure set in Majorca in July.

The channel has hired a crew and hopes to replicate the success of I’m A Celebrity last year.

A TV source said: “The casting team have been shocked by the amount of contestant applications they’ve received and impressed with the standard.

“They can’t wait to start remotely screen-testing their favourites over the next few months.

“Producers reckon it’s because youngsters have been stuck at home, getting cabin fever and know the show is a one-way ticket to success.

Laura Whitmore, 35, will be fronting the new series for the second time

Her husband Iain Stirling, 33, will also be narrating the hit reality show

“With very few new telly programs being made at the moment, Love Island is set to be a ratings winner.”

Casting chiefs are also contacting their own picks for contestants by trawling social media and video sites.

Laura Whitmore, 35, and her narrator hubby comedian Iain Stirling, 33, will return to front the series.
