LOVE Island fans were left confused by Millie Court’s answer when she was asked if she wanted to keep the prize money last night.
The awkward moment came after Laura announced that Millie and Liam were the winners of this series of the ITV2 dating show.
As usual, the pair were given an envelope each: One containing the £50,000 price money, the other empty.
Kicking off the usual twist, Laura said: “To test your genuine intentions, has this experience been about love or money? “
She then instructed the two to pick up an envelope each, and after they both opened them it was revealed Millie had picked up the one with all the cash.
Asking Millie if she wanted to steal or split the £50K, fans were left confused by Millie’s answer – as was Laura at first.
Laura asked: “Are you going to steal or split?”
“Love,” Millie replied through an awkward giggle.
“Spilt it is,” host Laura confirmed.
Fans were not happy with Millie’s answer and rushed to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One fan tweeted: “Split or steal millie? millie: *love* #LoveIsland,” followed by a gif of a man sighing while sipping a cup of tea.
Another shared a gif of a woman laughing followed by: “Millie you had one job to say split or steal #LoveIsland.”
“Laura; what are you gonna do split or steal? Millie; LOVE. I can’t even #LoveIsland,” said one fan.
One Twitter user pointed out that it was Laura who changed up the script.
They tweeted: “They usually say do you choose love or money that’s why Millie said love but this year Laura randomly said split or steal lol #LoveIsland.”
Others were desperate for Millie to steal the money after Liam’s stint in Casa Amor.
A fan wrote: “Uno what would be iconic. Millie and Liam win love Island Millie gets the 50K. They give her the option split or steal. Millie says to Liam – ‘Remember Casa Amor?’ Then steals the money. #LoveIsland.”
Viewers also complained that the envelope twist is “pointless”.
So far, not one winner has decided to steal the prize pot over the years – and fans are very disappointed about this.
