Samie and Tom recently went their separate ways

Samie and northern hunk Tom Clare, 23 – who placed third – seemed to be going from strength to strength since returning to the UK, but shocked fans earlier this week when it was revealed they had split.

Earlier today the Essex beauty took to her YouTube channel to open up about why she “wasn’t in the right head space” to talk about the break-up on social media.

Samie has been dealing with some health concerns – a lump that viewers pointed out to her, as well as her friends and family while she was on our screens.

The former estate agent co-ordinator decided to go get it checked and has had ongoing tests, a biopsy and it was given a grade three by doctors.

Fighting back the tears, Samie said: “Mine was a ‘grey area’ so they couldn’t tell – so they’re not sure. They weren’t sure if it is cancerous if it’s not.

“So I have to have my half of my thyroid removed.”

The reality star went on to tell herself that she shouldn’t be upset because she’s “so grateful” that people messaged her so she’s caught it now, rather than later.

Samie continued: “But obviously it is still really scary. I’m a young girl. I’m realising how common it is.”

She then thanked Love Island 2020 star Demi Jones, 24, for documenting her thyroid cancer journey on social media.

Samie explained that she has to have surgery in four to six weeks to have half of her thyroid removed, as well as the lump.

Then they will test it to see if it’s cancer, and if it is, she will have to have a second surgery to have the other half removed.

Samie also spoke about the recent break-up.

“Me and Tom have broken up,” she confirmed.

“It’s ended on good terms. No one’s done anything bad to each other, there’s still lots and lots of love there. It just wasn’t working on the outside and we both agreed on the majority of the things.

“There’s no bad blood there, me and Tom. I would never say a bad word about him and he wouldn’t about me.”

“We just weren’t working on the outside. I feel like when you come out of the villa you’ve got so much pressure and so many other things to worry about that plays a huge factor in a relationship.

“It was just a lot more difficult to maintain outside of the villa.”
