Love Island star tipped for Strictly Come Dancing after show bosses relax ban over reality TV stars

A LOVE Island star has been tipped for Strictly Come Dancing after show bosses relaxed their ban on reality stars.

It wasn’t long ago that Love Island’s Zara McDermott 26, who took part in the ITV2 programme in 2018, was revealed as a contestant for the 2023 series.

Now, after winning hit dating show Love Island this week, Jess Harding has 2-1 odds to appear on the next series of Strictly.

Jess’ odds have been cut from 6-1 to 2-1 after her Love Island win with partner Sammy Root on Monday.

While fans predicted it would be the tightest finale ever, Jess and Sammy took the top prize with over 34.5% of the vote.

Bookies’ favourites Whitney and Lochan came in a shock second place, earning 26.8% of the vote, while Ella and Tyrique came close behind with 24%.

Reality stars of Love Island fame haven’t previously starred on Strictly Come Dancing, but it seems that all changed with Zara McDermott.

It is believed that Zara will “attract more younger people to watch the show” and it will also able her to “further her career” with the Beeb.

This will make Zara the first Love Island star to ever compete in the dance competition to win the Glitterball trophy.

“Zara is the perfect signing for Strictly, not only is she beautiful and glamorous but she is hardworking and will take being on the show very seriously,” a source said.

They continued to MailOnline: “She’s absolutely loved the experience of documentary making and is over the moon to further her relationship with the BBC by signing up to Strictly.

“It is a dream come true for her and becoming the first former Love Island star to do so is the icing on the cake.”
