But fans weren’t convinced – voting them both out tonight

The Love Island pair were among three couples deemed least compatible by the voting public.

They appeared in a ‘bottom three’ alongside Samie Elishi and Tom Clare and Olivia Hawkins and Kai Fagan.

Many viewers had suspected Ellie and Jordan were are risk – after they only coupled up on last night’s show.

Some also insisted their ‘friendship couple’ relationship wasn’t legit.

One wrote: “Jordan doesn’t even like Ellie anyway, it’s just so stupid” while another dubbed their vibe “friendship-like”.

Many of the cast – still reeling from the departure of original cast member Tanyel Revan – were shocked.

They had no idea there was another departure taking place so soon until they were gathered to the firepit.

Jordan picked Ellie in a recoupling that aired last night – saying Ellie had been “very, very warm to me”.

His decision doomed Tanyel, who was forced to leave, with many of the cast in tears at the move.

Tonight’s extra dumpings came after viewers were invited to choose their favourite couples after last night’s show.

Ellie and Jordan were then given the bad news just after midnight over in South Africa.

It fell to Ron Hall to reveal who was going home in Friday’s gripping episode of Love Island.

There was widespread shock at the news as the cast helped the departing stars to pack.

Ellie said after leaving: “I felt like I was just about to find my husband so I was sad to be leaving – but it was an amazing experience.”

Jordan added: “Similar to Ellie I was trying to find a wife, but I enjoyed my time in the villa. All good things must come to an end.”

The show returns to ITV2 and ITVX on Sunday night.
