TRIBUTES have been pouring in for Love Island star Mike Thalassitis, who passed away three years ago at the age of 26.
Mike, who first rose to fame on Love Island in 2017, took his own life in March 2019, with many of his friends and co-stars leaving touching messages for the star on the anniversary of his death.
Marcel Somervile, who appeared alongside Mike on the ITV show, posted a pair of the pair together to Instagram with the caption: “Always remembered my brother!
Mike’s co-star Montana Brown also posted a snap of the pair to her Instagram story, saying she “can’t believe” he’s gone.
Montana wrote: “Three years today, can’t believe it. What a gentle and sweet man left us far too soon. I know he is watching over and at peace now which gives me great comfort.
“But days like today I will be thinking of all the amazing memories we shared.”
Elsewhere, fans took to Mike’s old social media accounts to leave tributes to the star.
Alongside an emoji of a broken heart, one person penned: “I can’t believe it’s been three years since you left us.”
Echoing their comments, someone else said: “How has it been three years already? Your sorely missed, Mike.”
While a third added: “Never forgotten. Hope you’re resting easy up there!”
Love Island has previously come under pressure to improve its aftercare for its stars, following the suicides of Mike, former contestant Sophie Gradon in 2018 and presenter Caroline Flack in 2020.
Last year, it was revealed the ITV bosses put in place strict mental health protocols for the upcoming season.
