Insiders have said the bathrooms are often left particularly messy

Love Island unveiled its glam new villa ahead of the new Winter series kicking off just under three weeks ago.

The sprawling property boasts a huge pool, new Hideaway, treehouse and an extra-large firepit to host the drama.

But while life in the villa appears glamorous on our TV screens – the reality is said to be far from it.

According to the Daily Star, show insiders hit out that the villa is “absolutely disgusting” as 14 Islanders live inside it.

The source told the publication: “The villa is an absolute tip. It sticks apparently and it’s just a mess.

“The runners have to clean up after all of them and they say it’s absolutely disgusting.

“There’s only about two toilets and there’s more than ten Islanders in there,” they added of the villa’s interior.

The insider said that the lack of toilet space meant one worker once had to pick a used tampon off the floor.

They continued: “One person was telling me that they went in the villa once and there was a tampon on the floor – a used tampon all over the floor and they had to clean that up.”

The source concluded that the Islanders had been treating the loos “almost like festival toilets”.

The Celeb Report Online have contacted ITV for comment.

It’s not the first time the villa has been left in a state, as in 2018 – a dumped star hit out an old villa was “rat and ant infested”.

The housemate – who wanted to remain anonymous – said: “There are ants all over the kitchen crawling all over food, trails of them are going towards the bread and fruit.

“The nastiest thing is rats. Some people don’t care, but others found it really horrible. If they bothered cleaning up after themselves it wouldn’t be going on. It’s filthy.”
