LOVE Island’s Demi Jones has said that she is “so loved it hurts” as she is supported by her co-stars after her thyroid cancer diagnosis.

Demi has said she’s ‘surrounded by so much love’

It comes just over a year after Demi shot to fame on the first ever series of winter Love Island.

Her villa pal Shaughna Phillips was among her followers to send love, sharing a video from their time on the reality show, which showed Shaughna telling Demi to put on her “game face”.

Shaughna captioned the clip: “My sweet, gentle, beautiful girl, the same message I was giving you in the video applies today more than ever. Game face on my girl, you’ve got this

Demi had a lump removed from her neck last month

She broke down in tears when she was told it could be cancerous

After an appointment with doctors at the beginning of April, Demi broke down in tears when they told her the lump in her neck could be something serious.

Three weeks later, she had the “potentially cancerous” lump removed from her neck and has been waiting on her results.

Yesterday, the brave beauty got the news that she’d feared – sharing a photo of a booklet titled: “Understanding thyroid cancer.”

She revealed she’d been diagnosed with thyroid cancer yesterday

Demi said she’s a ‘strong girl’ and vowed to beat the illness

Demi told her 1.1m followers: “Hi guys, I got my results today and unfortunately I have thyroid cancer.

“The tumour has been removed but I’m now due to have more surgery to remove the rest of my thyroid.

“I’m staying very positive and I’m a strong girl so I’ll be fine.

“Thank you for your love and support always. I’ll bounce back stronger.”

She promised to keep concerned fans updated

Thyroid cancer develops in your thyroid gland, which is located in your neck, and is usually noticed when a lump forms there.

The cells within the thyroid grow too quickly and create a lump.

There are four types which include: papillary carcinoma, follicular carcinoma, medullary thyroid carcinoma, anaplastic thyroid carcinoma.

Demi first noticed a lump back in 2019, but it was only after her stint on Love Island that she decided to get it checked.
