Love Island's Faye Winter Opens Up About Cancer Scare and Urges Vigilance in Checking for Lumps

Faye Winter initially "brushed it under the carpet" after discovering a lump

Love Island star Faye Winter has bravely opened up about her recent cancer scare, admitting that she initially chose to "brush it under the carpet". Earlier this month, the 28-year-old reality TV star revealed to her fans that she had experienced "sleepless nights" after discovering a lump in her breast.

Speaking about the situation, Faye shared, "When it happened back in March when I was on holiday with the girls, it was one of those things where it kind of happened, I spoke about it and then I brushed it under the carpet and was like, 'Ok I’ve had a big year, I wanna take time to heal and deal with what I wanna deal with'."

Using her platform to raise awareness

Faye has since urged others to be vigilant when checking for lumps and emphasized the importance of taking action. She stated, "If I can get one person to check, which I already know as so many people have messaged me and said they already have, I’ve done my job. I have a platform and my platform isn’t there to promote fast fashion or beauty. It is purely there to promote, hopefully, goodness in the world and try to raise awareness."

She recently spoke out to mark Breast Cancer Awareness month, reflecting on her own experience. Faye said, "I was so lucky back in June to be given the all clear on a lump I had found a couple of months prior. So many will also be given good news, but it doesn’t make those few weeks or months any easier."

Putting things into perspective

Faye further shared her emotional journey, revealing the anxiety she felt before receiving her test results. She admitted, "I hadn’t slept for days before going in for my scans, thinking 'what else could go wrong this year', but yet putting into perspective how small those issues were, on top of trying to put on a brave face. I felt like everything was falling apart and I just needed some good news."

Earlier this year, Faye went through a breakup with her Love Island partner Teddy Soares, 18 months after they met on the show.
