Despite all of the hard work the couple put into the house, it still didn’t feel like a “home”

Physiotherapist Amy and vineyard manager Louis, who had relocated from Cheltenham to the latter’s late grandmother’s home in Cowbridge back in 2015, were in need of assistance from the property experts.

Phil with a budget of £900k was tasked with finding alternative properties to tempt the homeowners while Kirstie worked on tempting the pair to renovate the property with a budget of £50k.

The pair admitted that converting the barn cost them a lot of money because they had to replace the roof and wiring everything.

They plastered all of the walls, put in new floors, and installed a new kitchen and bathroom.

“We just don’t know how to function and live in this house and it makes us feel a bit idiotic at times,” Louis admitted.

Despite all of the hard work the couple put into the house, it still didn’t feel like a “home”.

In the end the pair decided to renovate the place and the value of the house was significantly impacted by the alteration.

The couple managed to increase the home’s worth by £255,000 with only £59,000 in renovation costs.

Those watching at home, however, were unimpressed by this and labelled the couple “smug,” as they took to Twitter to vent their frustrations.

One wrote: “Extending an already massive house.”

Another added: “The problem I mostly saw with that huge rambling house – was that it lacked any personality. It looked sterile. Now there’s some colour and pattern – even if subtle.”

A third fumed: “This couple is are so annoying!

A fourth complained: “Another smug family bragging about their over-financed lifestyle.”
