Viewers Disapprove of Experts' Response
Disturbed Married at First Sight (MAFS) viewers have expressed their disapproval of the relationship experts on the show after they appeared to side with Ella when her partner, JJ, brought up his concerns about her behavior. JJ accused Ella of drinking too much and saying hurtful things to him.
However, viewers felt that the experts focused more on what JJ could do to make Ella feel better, rather than addressing the "toxic" comments she made. Many took to social media to criticize the therapists for not offering advice that was more directed towards helping Ella resolve her issues.
One viewer tweeted, "Not the experts asking Ella what SHE needs from JJ when she was the one who was toxic when drunk!" Another agreed, "Ella needs some help away from the show. Her behavior is truly toxic."
Some viewers expressed concern for Ella's well-being, with one writing, "Ella shouldn't be on MAFS, she needs to be in 1-1 intensive therapy." Another worried viewer added, "Ella is a troubled girl who seems like she needs help controlling her alcohol use...a lot of young women might actually relate to her? I completely get the feeling of being out of control while drinking, it's scary...I'm sad for her, I hope you get better soon Ella xx."
Pattern of Behavior
Ella's former husband on MAFS, Nathanial, who was paired with her by the experts, had also mentioned similar issues with her drinking. Some viewers pointed out that there seemed to be a pattern of behavior, supporting Nathanial's decision to walk away from the relationship.
One viewer joked, "Sooo...seems like Nathanial wasn't the problem after all, was he Ella?" Another shared, "So Nathaniel knew exactly why he wasn't into Ella. Her personality doesn't come across as particularly nice, especially under the influence of alcohol!"
A third viewer mentioned, "Nathaniel did say that Ella has an alcohol problem and that he went to bed alone most nights."
