Reality TV Dreams
If you're a fan of reality TV, you've likely heard of Married at First Sight. The hit E4 series is back and better than ever, with extravagant weddings and dramatic storylines. But have you ever wondered if the contestants get paid for their appearances on the show?
Money Talk
While the producers of Married at First Sight have yet to reveal if their contestants receive a salary, one former participant spilled the beans. Nasser Sultan, who appeared in season five of Married at First Sight Australia, shared that he was paid $150 for each day of filming. However, he also mentioned that contestants are responsible for their living expenses, including rent and ongoing bills. So, while it's not a huge paycheck, it does cover some of the costs associated with being on the show.
Conversion Rate
For our UK contestants, $150 works out to be roughly £78. If they were paid for five days of work per week, this would amount to around £1580 per month. It may not be a fortune, but it's not nothing either.
No Financial Gain
Another former contestant, Clark Sherwood, has put it plainly - there is no financial gain from being on Married at First Sight. So if you're thinking of applying for the show solely for the money, you might want to reconsider.
Love is the Prize
While there may not be a cash prize for participating in Married at First Sight, there is the chance to find love. For those couples who stay married after the show ends, they can consider themselves winners in the game of love.
No Prenups Allowed
Since the marriages on Married at First Sight are not legally binding, prenuptial agreements cannot be issued. However, if a couple decides to stay married after the show, they can then enter into a genuine, full-time relationship and potentially get married for real.
