Married At First Sight star Amy Christophers hits back at fat-shaming trolls as she admits she was ‘miserable’ at size 6

AS a glamour model turned sports presenter, Amy Christophers was used to being under the spotlight – even before she got hitched to a stranger on TV.

But now the brunette beauty, 34, has shot to fame as one of the favourites on E4’s Married At First Sight.

Just one week in to the latest UK series, Amy has experienced the highs and lows of reality TV – from being offered big money deals, to vicious online trolling.

Despite her tens of thousands of followers, size 12-14 Amy has been cruelly called “fat” on social media.

In an exclusive interview with The Celeb Report, Amy confidently says “I love my body” – and admits she was “miserable” at her slimmest as a model.

“When I was shooting calendars I’d get down to a size 6,” said Amy, a presenter for Racing TV.

“Looking back at those pictures I think ‘oh yeah, I look banging’, but then I remember how miserable I was.

“All I did was drink water – now I’m happy to have a glass of champagne and I’m probably keeping Deliveroo and UberEats in business.

“I enjoy my life now and I’m far happier now than I was when I was a model having to watch my weight.

“It makes me sad to think I used to look in the mirror and think I looked fat.

“You’ve got to love the body you’ve got.

“But online there’s been a few negative nellies saying ‘oh she’s fat’. My dress size is a 12-14, which is below the national average so what, you’re calling the rest of the country fat? That’s a bit rude.

“Other people have gone on about my eyebrows being like slugs, but I don’t care I love my eyebrows.

“You can’t bring me down. Anyone trying to do that is already below you. i just send them love.

“Sometimes I find it funny, but then at other times I am appalled that people will say that.

“I’ll screenshot the horrible messages and send to my friends, saying I’m out outraged.

“But I try not to let it affect me, I’ve always had confidence and self-esteem, it’s so important.”

Overpowering the narrow-minded trolls are thousands of curvy girls praising Amy for her body confidence after she stripped off to a bikini on honeymoon with her husband Joshua Christie.

Amy adds: “Off the back of the show I’ve had a lot of messages from girls saying ‘I love how confident you are, you were rocking that bikini on your honeymoon, you didn’t care’.

“I don’t think anyone is ever going to be 100 per cent happy with their body but this is me right now. You can love yourself as you are. You can make daily improvements, going to the gym and eating healthily, but it all starts within. You have to be happy with who you are.”

Determined to use her new platform for the greater good, Amy is working on Racing TV’s new initiative #Raceday to inspire glamorous girls to get into sport.

She said: “It’s always been very important for me to portray that you don’t have to be a certain type of girl to work in sport and times have changed.

“I know loads of people like me, glamorous girls that love horse racing and football, and we’re trying to break that stigma and that’s where #Raceday comes in.

“You get everybody at racing, everybody of all ages are welcome and we are seeing younger people coming to the races now.

“They might not have come racing before but everyone is itching to get out of the house and see their friends. Racing is now a really appealing option. It’s a great day out, you can have some bets, drinks, eat great food and dress up.

“I’ll have a go at anything – it’s never too late to get into something. I had a ten-year glamour career before I went into sport.

“It’s important to get that message across that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
