Martin Lewis won't be on Good Morning Britain until next year after clash with minister

Martin Lewis takes a break

Martin Lewis has announced that he will not be appearing on Good Morning Britain until next year following a fiery clash with government minister Lisa Nandy. The Money Saving Expert shared that he wants to focus on his own ITV show for the rest of 2024.

The clash with Lisa Nandy

The clash between Martin Lewis and Lisa Nandy happened after he grilled her over the government's decision to axe the £300 Winter Fuel Payment allowance for pensioners. Martin questioned Nandy's defense of the policy and criticized the government's failure to reach the most vulnerable pensioners.

What's at stake for pensioners?

With changes announced in July, the Winter Fuel Payment will now only be available to pensioners who claim pension credit or certain means-tested benefits. This means around 880,000 eligible pensioners on the lowest incomes may miss out on the energy help because they haven't claimed pension credit.
