Marvel fans launch ‘save Daredevil’ campaign as Disney+ bags full rights to show after divisive Netflix axe

MARVEL fans have launched a ‘save Daredevil’ campaign as the MCU have launched a regained the rights from Netflix after it axed the show.

Now viewers are hoping the show will be revived and are calling for Disney+ to broadcast it.



Fans call for Daredevil to be revived and shown on Disney+

Daredevil ran for three seasons on Netflix from 2015 to 2018, before it was cancelled by the giant streaming platform.

At the time, it was believed that the season lengths, production costs, as well as the then-upcoming launch of Disney+ played a pivotal role in the decision to axe the show.

Under the terms and conditions of the Netflix deal, the Daredevil rights as well the characters involved were placed in a state of limbo for two years, which has now passed.

As a result, #SaveDaredevil began trending on Twitter and fans called for Disney, who own Marvel, to revive the series with all the original members of the cast.

Users flooded the social media platform with their pleas to bring the show back, as one wrote: “Just a reminder that Daredevil is one of the best shows on Netflix and that Disney should most certainly #SaveDaredevil.

“Charlie Cox, @vincentdonofrio, and the entire cast and crew should return to bring Matt’s story to a close.”

Another fan penned: “Hey @Marvel / @Disney, it’s been a tough old year, how about making it a little better for us Daredevil fans, eh? #SaveDaredevil.”

The official account for the #SaveDaredevil campaign wrote: “We know not everyone is on Twitter, but to those we can reach, all of us at #SaveDaredevil appreciate you!”, to which Wilson Flisk/Kingpin star Vincent D’Onofrio, 61, replied in agreement with: “This.”



Daredevil ran for three seasons on Netflix before it was cancelled

D’Onofrio plays the powerful businessman and crime lord on the superhero series, which also featured Charlie Cox, 37, as the lead star Matt Murdock/Daredevil.

Deborah Ann Woll, 35, also co-starred on the series as enigmatic young woman Karen Page, alongside Elden Henson, 43, as Foggy Nelson, Murdock’s best friend and law partner.

Cox, Woll, and Henson have all previously expressed a desire to continue Daredevil’s story.

Regardless, Marvel Studios has yet to give much away regarding its plans for the show.
