Mary Goskirk left for dead after being brutally attacked by lover Faye in Emmerdale

RELATIONSHIPS in the Dales often go south and Mary Goskirk will be the latest villager to understand it.

The Emmerdale resident is brutally attacked by her other half Faye when she finally reveals her true motives.

Mary Goskirk rocked up the Dales hoping to reconnect with her daughter Rhona.

This meant she had to make her way out of the closet and the villager portrayed by Louise Jameson finally revealed she was a lesbian to a stunned Rhona.

Since then, Mary has opened herself up to love for the first time since her arrival, which led to her meet Faye.

The pair prepare to jet off to Ecuador in scenes airing next week, much to Rhona’s reluctance.

However, the village vet manages to give a delighted Mary her blessing next week on ITV.

But before they can leave, Mary follows through on her promise to raise money for the Ecuadorian women’s refuge Faye was eager to help out after a huge fire.

While at the auction, however, Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) gets increasingly wary when Faye is cagey on a bank transfer for the auction fund.

Suzy shares her suspicions with Mary but she’s affronted by the claims and sends a large donation through to Faye to double down on her commitment.

Sadly for Mary, Suzy could well be right as she begins to dig and finds more evidence that Faye isn’t who she seems.

Blinded by love and terrified of having to let go of her dream romance, Mary shuts her down.

But Suzy’s words have had an impact on Mary – she later tests the waters herself with Faye.

The patter starts acting coy over finances and the reality starts to dawn on Mary.

As Mary accepts that Suzy is right about her, Faye is fully aware the jig is up and reveals her true nature.

A kerfuffle ensues over an envelope of money, prompting Faye to make her escape… leaving Mary bleeding and concussed.

Soap boss Jane Hudson teased heartbreak for Mary amid her new storyline.

Speaking to The Celeb Report and other press, she announced that Faye will be exposed as a scammer.

“I think what’s really relevant for this story is how easy it is to be scammed, how easy it is to be taken in, how easy it is for love to stop you thinking logically”, she said.

“And it doesn’t matter what age you are – we’re all vulnerable to being tricked and to being scammed and being catfished.”

“It’s a really heart-breaking story.”

How will Mary cope?
