Maryland viewers all have same complaint as Suranne Jones drama comes to an end

MARYLAND viewers were left a little underwhelmed as the drama came to it’s rather underwhelming conclusion this evening.

The three parter saw sisters Becca (Suranne Jones) and Rosaline (Eve Best) grow close once again after the death of their mother and the discovery of her double life.

Many felt the storyline could have been wrapped up in one episode, rather than being dragged out for three.

Taking to Twitter to discuss the ending, one person wrote: “Has this really been dragged out over 3 episodes for THAT ending??”

Another shared: “How has this been dragged out to three episodes?.”

While a third said: “Finding this a bit too slow, it didn’t need three episodes.”

Others defended the drama though, with one person saying: “Really chuffing enjoyed #Maryland. Sometimes drama doesn’t need explosions and bells and whistles. Just great performances from a fantastic cast with a story full of heart, hurt and warmth. Sad it’s over. 3 episodes wasn’t enough.”

The storyline is based on creator and leading actress Suranne’s own experience with losing both her parents, and the grief that she felt following their deaths.

Along their journey, the sisters discovered their mum had been having an affair and had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

They were heartbroken to discover she made the decision to take her own life and three episodes focused on them navigating that and their own troubled relationship.
