John was heard swearing in the episode before 9pm

He swore at chef Pookie as she served up her starter

John, 56, was seen heading up the kitchen for the semi-finals as the chefs were given a taste of a professional restaurant setting.

Chef Pookie was the first to step up to the counter, having completed her starter earlier than the rest of the group.

It was then John angrily slammed the chef – who had been put in charge of the team – for not getting the others to work fast enough.

“Go back and tell them you’ve put the plate on the pass and tell them, because you’ve just, commonly known as, dropped them in the s**t,” he could be heard saying in the uncensored clip.

'NATIONAL TREASURE'

Masterchef fans convinced they know who will WIN this series

BBC viewers were left confused by the choice of language – which went un-bleeped during the show before the 9pm watershed.

They took to Twitter in shock as they asked why John was “allowed to say s**t” as part of the evening broadcast.

“Everyone watching MasterChef wondering if John is allowed to say ‘s**t’ before the watershed,” one said.

“Is ‘s**t’ allowed before the watershed?” a second added, as a third chimed in to agree: “Pretty sure he just said s**t.”

“Are we saying s**t at 8.25pm on BBC1 these days then? That’s new,” a fourth said, as a fifth concluded: “Calm down. Was that necessary?”

The tense semi-final still saw chef Pookie wow the judges with her cooking skills, impressing with her imaginative dishes.

She sailed through to the final eight as viewers headed to social media to gush over her “winning” performance on Tuesday.

“Pookie is a national treasure in the making,” one fan wrote.

Alongside an array of red love heart emojis, a second penned: “Can we just end MasterChef now and declare Pookie as the winner? Love her.”

After sailing through to the semis, fellow finalist, Sarah Rankin, said: “I’m feeling totally blown away. I think Pookie and I are gonna go out tonight and celebrate.

Grinning like a Cheshire cat, Pookie cheekily chimed in, as she whispered: “Cocktail time.”

Pookie has quickly cemented herself as a fan favourite after some rather notable moments in the kitchen.

Just last month, the lovable cook created a fish-based dish called Shallow Sea-Bed Life.

But instead of drooling over the dish, viewers were left more distracted by one of her comments.

As she struggled with an element of her main course, Pookie rather innocently told the camera: “I’m trying to get my starfish out.”

Alongside an emoji of a laughing face, one person penned: “If Pookie gets her starfish out, I’m calling the police.”

MasterChef continues tomorrow night at 8pm on BBC One
