FANS of Mastermind were left irritated after a recent episode of the show.

The BBC quiz programme, presented by Clive Myrie, tests four contestants on their knowledge on a specialist subject.

Monday night’s episode saw a brand new batch of hopefuls grace the studio floor.

First up was Paddy, a recruitment consultant whose specialist subject was the jazz pianist Bill Evans.

He managed a total of five in his first round, which he seemed a bit defeated by.

Chaplain Suzette was second to go, and her chosen topic was on the Belgian cartoonist Georges Remi, as well as his creation Tintin.

Suzette stormed ahead at the start of her round, racking up an impressive nine points.

The designer William Morris was the specialist subject for English tutor Katie Lane.

Katie managed six points in her round, with no passes.

And finally, MA student Blake Robinson was up last with his specialist topic, the Doctor Who spin-off series, Torchwood.

Blake did incredibly well in his round, with 11 points at the end of it.

Then it was time for the general knowledge round, with some contestants doing way better than others.

Viewers claimed the questions on the show were “getting easy”, and it became a hot debate on Twitter.

One wrote: “44 questions right on tonight’s general knowledge round on #Mastermind.

“Whatever cleverness I currently feel is about to be extinguished by OnlyConnect.”

They weren’t the only one with that opinion, as another viewer said: “Catching #Mastermind for the first time in years.

“Has it got easier or more worryingly, have I matured?”

Yet another fan of the show wrote: “Is it just me or have the #mastermind general knowledge questions gotten much easier?”

This post got a reply from another viewer, agreeing: “Yes. They are easier, as I can now answer a lot of them!”

However, one sceptic responded: “Maybe we just know more now we’re older.”

Mastermind continues Monday nights at 7:30pm on BBC One
