Matt Hancock’s plans for after I’m a Celeb revealed as Westminster plot to give him hell on Bushtucker trials is exposed

MATT Hancock is throwing a swanky party just days after he jets back from the jungle, The Celeb Report can reveal.

The I’m A Celeb wildcard has invited pals to a bash at the Science Museum to launch his memoirs.

Labour last night told him not to waste any more time away from his MP duties when he returns from Down Under.

It came amid claims of a Westminster plot to force Mr Hancock – who entered camp in last night’s episode – to do every Bushtucker trial.

Cabinet Minister Chris Heaton-Harris told Times Radio: “There are hundreds of MPs and peers who have managed to – probably for the first time in some peers’ life – download an app to vote for somebody.

“So I’m assuming that doesn’t mean great things for Matt.”

Meanwhile Tory MPs urged each other on WhatsApp groups to vote for their former colleague – who has had the party whip suspended.

Within a week of the ITV show finishing on November 28 Mr Hancock is hosting the launch party of his new book, Pandemic Diaries.

Promising a “great evening”, the ex-Health Secretary will talk about his time helping lead Britain through Covid during the two-hour event.

Mr Hancock was the face of the government’s lockdown before being forced to resign when The Celeb Report revealed his rule-breaking affair with top aide Gina Coladangelo.

The invitation says: “I’ve written this book to explain what it was like to be the Health Secretary during the Covid-19 pandemic and to give an insight into the key decisions in our fight to save lives and roll out the vaccine.”

But Shadow Attorney General Emily Thornberry last night raged: “Has this man got no shame at all?

“You’d think at the end of this process, he’d be rushing back to catch up with his constituents’ casework, not spending even more time away from them at some swanky book launch.

“It just shows every time you think he can’t sink lower, he finds new depths.”

A spokesman for Mr Hancock said he would be taking his Dyslexia Bill through Parliament within days of flying back.

He added: “As soon as Matt’s time in camp is up, he will return to Suffolk to hold surgeries where he will catch up with his constituents and discuss matters of concern.”
