Matt Tebbutt, the 51-year-old celebrity chef, has hinted at the future of Saturday Kitchen as rumors swirl about him potentially replacing Gregg Wallace on MasterChef. Tebbutt, who has been hosting the BBC cooking show since 2016, acknowledged that the show may come to a close at some point, prompting him to explore new projects.
Moving on to new projects
During an episode of the Grilled by The Staff Canteen podcast, Tebbutt shared his thoughts on the future, stating, "It’s going to stop at some point. I’m going to have to do something." While he did not rule out a return to the restaurant industry, he emphasized the challenges of the job, describing it as "proper hard graft." However, he remains optimistic about the show's popularity among viewers.
Hope for the future of Saturday Kitchen
Despite the changing landscape of cooking shows on social media platforms, Tebbutt expressed hope that Saturday Kitchen will continue to resonate with audiences. He highlighted the importance of adapting to evolving viewing habits, emphasizing the need for TV to address these changes going forward.
MasterChef and beyond
Tebbutt is currently in discussions with the producers of Saturday Kitchen and is reportedly being considered to host the spin-off series MasterChef: The Professionals. If confirmed, he will step into the role alongside remaining judge Jon Torode, marking a new chapter in his culinary journey.
