Michelle Keegan Talks About Swearing at Joanna Lumley in New Netflix Series

Former Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan opens up about her experience filming with Joanna Lumley in the new Netflix series Fool Me Once.

Michelle Keegan recently revealed that she was left feeling embarrassed after having to make an expletive-filled rant at Joanna Lumley on set. In an exclusive interview with The Celeb Report's TV mag, Keegan shared her thoughts on working with the national treasure.

Swearing at a Legend: Michelle's Nerve-Racking Experience

Keegan admitted that she found it challenging to swear at Lumley during rehearsals. She said, "They were so much fun. I mean, it’s not every day that you tell Joanna Lumley to f*** off! That was quite nerve-racking." Despite the difficulty, Keegan praised Lumley for making her feel comfortable and called her a "legend."

Playing Feisty Characters: Michelle's Inspiration from Joanna

Keegan also shared that Lumley's incredible talent for playing feisty roles inspired her to bring out her own feistier side. She said, "In our scenes, our characters do go head-to-head. She is so good at playing that feisty role, and it made me go a bit feistier."

Swearing in Rehearsals: Michelle's Limitations

Despite portraying a fiery character, Keegan admitted that she couldn't bring herself to swear at the legendary TV star during rehearsals. She explained, "I had to match that energy. But in the rehearsals, I wouldn’t swear. I would just say: ‘The F word.’ On a take, I’d swear, but in rehearsals, I wouldn’t swear in her face. I couldn’t do it!"

A Thrilling Experience: Michelle's Helicopter Adventure

Aside from her scenes with Lumley, Keegan was also excited about the opportunity to fly a helicopter during filming. She shared, "I was allowed to take over the controls while we were filming over the forest. Obviously, it was in a straight line. I wasn’t doing any Tom Cruise moves like flipping upside down. But I can now say that I flew a helicopter."

Keegan further described her experience, comparing it to her time in an army helicopter for the show Our Girl. She mentioned that flying in a four-seater helicopter felt different and described the initial takeoff as "quite rickety." However, once in the air, she found it therapeutic and enjoyed the smooth gliding sensation.
