Millie’s sweet reason why she refused to pocket £50k prize as Love Island champs reveal what they’ll spend cash on

LOVE Island winner Millie Court has revealed the sweet reason she refused to pocket the £50,000 prize money after sparking viewer backlash.

The 24-year-old star and 21-year-old boyfriend Liam Reardon were crowned this year’s winners on Monday night’s final.

Millie has insisted she never would have stolen the cash

She and Liam won Love Island on Monday

She has now insisted that it “didn’t cross her mind” to steal all of the money for herself, with Liam claiming he’d have done the same.

She explained: “I came on the show to find love at the end of the day, so we said for ages now anything after we found what we found was a bonus. Then to receive that money, it was just incredible.

“But there wasn’t a doubt in my mind – I was going to share that with Liam because we’re about to experience life together.”

Liam added: “What I have with Millie money can’t buy, any money in the world would mean nothing to me unless I had Millie with me. I would have been splitting it one hundred million percent.”

And they had similar plans when it came to spending the money, with Millie sharing: “The first thing I want to do is treat my friends and family. I want to give back to them and do something for them.”

Her partner echoed: “Yeah, I want to look after my family back home, spoil them as they’ve always done the best for me. I will definitely put money towards a house.”

Love Island viewers erupted on Twitter when Millie split the cash, with many claiming she should have pocketed it all as “Casa compensation”.

Liam was the most unfaithful boy during Casa Amor, wasting no time in immediately jumping into bed with bombshell Lillie.

They went on to snog outside of a challenge, and were even spotted spooning – while Millie remained completely loyal in the main villa.

She was thrilled when he returned single, but there was soon heartache when Lillie entered and admitted she was shocked he hadn’t re-coupled with her after his antics.

The two women later had a confrontation outside of the villa, where Lillie dropped an x-rated clanger about Liam’s bedroom behaviour, but Millie was soon back in his arms – leaving fans disappointed.

FANS REMEMBER

In fact, just last week, Liam was savaged by furious viewers when he bizarrely told his partner: “I can’t remember a time where it wasn’t you and me” – despite being in bed with Lillie just a couple of weeks earlier.

Still, their love story won over enough fans to secure them the win, with the pair beating the other three finalists in Monday’s live show.

Kaz and Aaron finished in fourth place, with Faye and Teddy taking the third spot – despite her shock outburst at the hunk triggering a record 25,000 Ofcom complaints earlier this series.

Chloe and Toby landed second to Millie and Liam, with Toby redeeming himself after his “immature” antics earlier in the series.
