Gemma is using candles to light her home as much as possible
Speaking at the premiere of the McDonald’s Christmas ad, Gemma told us: “I might be the GC but I am even in the cost of living crisis. I am literally turning all my lights off. It’s not a joke.”
The star has been using candles as much as possible to light her home instead.
Concerned Gemma continued: “When I am watching the news and see people losing their houses and freezing cold. This is serious.
“I am really trying to do my bit this year. That is why Christmas is going to be so special because we are all sort of up against it and f**k presents.”

She insisted: “You could give me a diamond encrusted Rolex, it doesn’t mean anything to me. I would rather you took that money and paid an old woman’s heating or plant trees and give back to the planet.”
Since finding fame on Towie after joining in 2011, Gemma’s career has gone from strength to strength and she has reported net worth of over £2.5 million.
Despite starting out as a car salesperson, Gemma’s popularity on the show allowed her to launch her own clothing line and led to numerous brand deals.
The star has also made numerous TV appearances, including her short stint on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2014, Celebrity Big Brother and Splash.
There is still one thing Gemma has her eye on though – a McDonald’s TV advert.
She told us how she was gutted not to get the latest ad, saying: “I love Maya Jama but that advert should have been mine.
“My boyfriend always says ‘Gemma when I first started dating you I would open the passenger seat to your door and you would just see boxes of McChicken sandwiches flying out’.”
The McDonald’s Christmas advert kick-starts The Alternative Christmas List, an initiative from McDonald’s helping to elevate togetherness ahead of Christmas, as part of this year’s #ReindeerReady campaign.
