FANS of long-running comedy show Mock the Week have hit out at the BBC as it airs its last ever episode.
The BBC comedy panel show was fronted by Dara O’Briain and ran for more than 200 episodes.
Mock the Week has come to an end
Dara has hosted the show since 2005
Fans have been left upset and disappointed at the show’s axing as host Dara reminded the viewers that Friday night’s edition was the last one.
The show aired a final half an hour episode with comedy guests such as Hugh Dennis, Ahir Sha and Zoe Lyons.
The programme remained poking fun at politicians, something it was famed for, right until the very end.
The programme was recorded ahead of Liz Truss’ departure as PM but this didn’t stop Dara poking fun at the former Prime Minister.
Opening the show, the host said: “At the time of recording Hunt is still the Chancellor and Truss is still the Prime Minister.
“Of course, just after we recorded this Liz Truss was mounted into a catapult and fired at the sun.”
Guest Rhys James made light at the fact it was the last ever edition of the show and suggested that they play cards instead of what they usually do.
He quipped: : “Sorry, are we seriously going to sit around this whole show talking about the news?
“I just thought as it was the last day we could play board games and stuff – I bought Uno.”
As the show continued to provide many welcome laughs until the very end, viewers took to Twitter to call on the BBC to reinstate the show.
One fan demanded: “Someone needs to pick up the show, it’s too good to let it die.”
Another said: “This show will be missed by many. Won’t Dave take this show on?”
A third added: “So sad! Love this programme. @Netflix, please run all the series again!”
While a fourth penned: “Final episode of Mock the Week tonight and I’m weirdly emotional.

“I’m struggling to think of another panel show that’s been so influential on me and my sense of humour – as well as all so influential in debuting some of our country’s finest comedians. Godspeed.”
The show has ran successfully for 21 seasons until its end on BBC Two.
Upon announcing the show’s axing, a statement from the BBC read: “We would like to thank Angst Productions, host Dara O’Briain, panellist Hugh Dennis and all the guest comedians involved in the show across the 21 series.”
Fans have called on the show to be brought back already
